I had missed writing my blog last Sunday as I was in Newfoundland at Rug School. It was everything I had hoped! The above photo is of the Table Mountains when you land off the boat at Port-aux Basques. Breath taking. The people were fabulous, saw one moose thankfully not near the highway. We had a car load, hardly room for a person in the back.
At rug school we had a kitchen party, those who hadn't previously been screeched in, got to be an honorary Newfoundlander, music was wonderful. I'd travel with these girls any day it was full of laughter and made better because of them.
Diane and I took the Simple Portraits course with Wendie Scott Davies. I wanted to hook a pixelated version of my granddaughter Sophie. It was a struggle for me as portraits, even pixelated, aren't my thing. I have barrettes to attach to the bottom of her braids yet and probably frame. The braids of her hair are actual fabric and yarn braided then sewn onto the foundation.
Diane hooked a realistic picture of her father, it is fabulous as shown below.
Diane won, 'peoples choice' for her rug of her friend Gina.
Diane Benoit and Anne Inder (President of the NL Rug Hooking Guild)
This lovely lady from Missouri dropped into my studio, she is going to learn rug hooking, she was a delight.
In the mail this week; Ruth Downing is working on her pattern using two of my hand dyed wool yarns called Fantasia and Wonderous. It is beautiful Ruth.
Charlene Frehlick shared a couple of her rugs she has finished. Most of the wool used in the rugs are from Della's Rug Hooking Studio. Both spectacular.
Lastly, Carol Cowan shared her finished rug, pattern by All About Ewe Wool, the blues and yellows are from Della's Rug Hooking Studio.
Have a good week everyone!
Love reading your weekly blogs Della !!
Glad you had a great time!!
What software did you use to transform your granddaughter’s picture? I’d like to do one.
How was the workshop weekend in parsborough?
Take care. Marie
Thanks.
