The Beauty All Around Us, May 15, 2022

I was fortunate to visit the exhibit of Beyond Van Gogh last week with some wonderful rug hooking friends. Letters written from Vincent to his brother Leo, were shared and it was clear Vincent found beauty all around him and painted it.  I was watching my sisters dog Hershey the other day and standing around outside while Hershey did his business and it forced me to stop and take in the beauty all around me.  The beauty of nature is always there but we don't often take the time to enjoy it.  Newly wed birds, have taken up residence in the corner of my shed.  Sitting on my deck watching their antics is fun to watch. My cat Chubs watches as well thinking he may catch one of the birds. Buds on the trees are ready to pop out, fresh grass, beautiful sky.  Beauty is everywhere around us if we choose to enjoy.

I have been having so much fun Ultra Punching this little piece.  Inspired pattern with permission from the Grumpy Goat Gallery.

Barbara Ackemann visited my studio this week to share a great new web site she has started called RugHookingRoadTrip.com.  Have you ever been traveling and wondered where the local rug hooking studios are or group events, courses, etc? I know I have and this web site would have been very helpful.  Thanks Barb for thinking of this!  Check it out!

In the mail this week; Aileen visited my studio and brought along her wonderful rug she is hooking of a Jaguar. I can't wait to see it pop even more once the background is in.

 Have a great week everyone!

  • We certainly do take things for granted, don’t we! Good reminder to stop and take a look around and to appreciate all that is before us! Looks like Charlie found some mud to play in LOL :)

  • Great blog Della ! I’m hoping to get to the Van Gogh exhibit too . Glad you had fun . Thanks for the reminder about taking time to enjoy the beauty around us . Another of my hooker friends and I were commenting that once you begin hooking you tend to look at everything around you differently. …shapes of trees and clouds , colours in fields and flowers . It brings a new appreciation . Have a great day . !
