Rug Hooking Gatherings & Celebrations

We celebrated the Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024 in our neck of the woods, we were almost totality but many places not far were totality.  An exciting time to witness this wonder.  The above photo I snagged from someone, I thought it was funny and tasty!

Spring has officially sprung in Nova Scotia.  The weather has been fabulous.  Yesterday was so windy, it blew my wool yarns and fabric dry in no time!  I have been very busy restocking in preparation for the Springhill Hook-in, May 15, 2024 as I will be vending.  Can't wait to see some of you there!

This time of year I find everyone is making their plans for the rest of the year for rug schools and hook-ins. Registration just opened for the Newfoundland Rug School, if you are able, I highly recommend as it is so much fun.  The Nova Scotia Rug School occurs May 5th week so if you haven't registered for that you may want to look into that to see if any more openings, it is sure to be a fun week.

This week I am attending the Truro Hook-In on Tuesday, Friday is a Cardinal course in Truro and Saturday is the hook-in in Shubenacadie.  Lots of fun to be had!

In our small town of Amherst, NS, Deanne Fitzpatrick was celebrated for winning the Order of Canada for her contributions to the advancement and recognition of rug hooking as an art form. I was able to attend the celebration and snagged a photo.

I got a bit of work done on my punch needle project.  From a distance, I am starting to like it.

In the mail this week; Maureen wrote me and sent these lovely photos of her finished pillow she made.  Pattern by Della's Rug Hooking Studio.  Her leaves are spectacular and I love her back of the pillow and her whipped edge.  Thanks Maureen for sharing!

Have a great week everyone!
