The light is so important in our rug hooking. Not only to see accurately the colours but as we get older, we don't see as well as we use to. The above photo I took the other day on my daily walk. The sun is behind me and makes a very stretched long narrow me! I find I have to look down to ensure I don't trip while walking and following the narrow me is difficult on the eyes.
I had attended last Sunday, an event being held monthly at the Thirsty Whippet in Dorchester, NB. It is called the Stitched Whippet Society. People can come and sit, have a snack, drink if they choose but more importantly just mingle and work on projects we are doing. A few of us Roadies went last Sunday and met lots of wonderful new people. There were people working on needle work, rug hooking and knitting projects. A knitter at our table, Catrina, told us about a light that can go around your neck to help you see your work clearer or simply for reading a book. A few of us, promptly ordered up one. A few pictures from the event below. The Thirsty Whippet is an old English Style Pub, it resides at the Lady Smith Manor. The Lady Smith Manor was built in the 1800's and the owners have been trying to restore it back to its glory. If interested you should read their story.

The Northport Loopers had their closing potluck on Monday for the holidays. Wonderful food and friends and Elexa won the RLC game. A few photos for your enjoyment.

I finished up my Snowmen, Mr & Mrs.

I'm almost done my 'first' cable stocking. I'll post a picture next week.
Each year, the Northport Loopers have been handed a challenge project at our annual potluck. Our 2026 challenge was, we were provided with a mug and challenged to make a 'mug rug'. I have completed mine, see below.

I have started a new project. I am going to call it my 'mystery project' as I thought it may be fun to post weekly a picture of my progress and you can make guesses what you think I am hooking and if you think I have the right colour combinations going on. This will be a very colorful rug and big! Pattern is by Seaside Rug Hooking. I had purchased it I am sure over 10 years ago so I am excited to have started this one.

In the mail this week; Susan Sheppard finished up this little Holly Rug pattern by Della's Rug Hooking Studio. Well done Susan.

Cathy Naylor finished up this lovely pattern by Jane Steele. A monochromatic with a pop of colour. Beautiful Cathy.

Simonne MacNeil finished up this lovely pillow for one of her grandchildren, pattern by Encompassing Designs. Lovely Simonne.

Have a great week everyone!
