It is the last week of January already, where has the time gone? Does this mean winter is 'half' over? Probably not, at least not here in the Maritime provinces of Canada. I took the above picture, looking up a beautiful tree outside my daughter's home in Halifax yesterday. They got a bit of snow Friday.
I hope you had a good week, mine was quiet but productive. I have restocked a lot of my yarns. Two zoom classes out of the way last week, I learned how to 'properly' put together the Jeanius purses, thanks Wendie for an informative class. I will share photos once I get another purse put together as the first one I did and shared with you last week, was done incorrectly. It was a learning experience. A couple more classes left for my carpet bag and Susan Clarke, we will be assembling next class, wish me luck! I signed up for two more classes, one with the Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia, rug school. Dye Better Blues with Jane Holden. I love learning. The other course I signed up for is with Rachelle LeBlanc, People Master Art Class. I'm looking forward to this one as well.
My grandmother (Myrtle), on my dads side, lived with us when I was growing up. Gram was an avid card player, taught my siblings and I how to play crazy eights and crib. She was always 'making' something with her hands. Mending socks or other articles of clothing and making scrap quilts. I can remember her hooking rugs and my mom has a couple of her rugs still today. I attribute my love of rug hooking to Gram. Do you have someone that has inspired you to be creative?
This week in the mail, Judy Adams, asked me to draw her a custom pattern last April. Judy is a new rug hooker and has taken to it like duck to water and did many other projects before she tackled this one. Judy needs your help! She is running short on the dark green in the border of this rug. See below picture close up of the green. If you think you may have something, drop me a note and I'll put you in contact with Judy.
Barbara Clarke, got permission from Mindy Cain to do this snowman pattern. It is coming along nicely. The scarf is especially fetching. Can't wait to see what the other two snowmen will look like. I wonder if those mitts are Bernie mitts?
Susan Walsh, asked me to help provide her wool to hook a Pearl and Jane McGown rug called Tiffany. Susan is well on her way and it looks great! She has a lot of the hard work out of the way, the outlining. Susan is a new rug hooker as well.
Patricia Perry, is hooking her own design. A lot of the wool was provided by Della's Rug Hooking. I wanted to show you a piece of wool she asked me to custom dye and what she did with it. To the right is the custom dyed wool and Patricia put it in her skeletons at the feet of Poseidon. We can't wait to see more Patricia!
I hope you have an awesome week ahead. Choose to stay positive and look for the good in those around you.
