Happy Mother's Day!

A special day to celebrate all 'mothers'.  My own mother, Joan Ripley, I wish a very Happy Mother's Day, hope you get to do whatever you would like today. We went flower shopping yesterday with my sister Dianne. Always a fun time getting new blooms for the summer. We try to do this annually, thankfully my sister Dianne reminds us to do this.

Last week I attended rug school at the Mount Saint Vincent in Halifax, NS. The above photo were my roommates, crazy bunch but we had so much fun.  My sides still hurt from laughing so much.  I took a Jane Bridgeman, Kilim and Fringes course.  Such a knowledgeable woman Jane is and I learned so much.  We were, if we choose to, design our rug during class.  I designed my rug during class.  The 'fringe' part will be done last but if you look close enough the bottom right corner I have started the kilim stitch, after that will be the fringe part.

Below are examples of the different kind of fringes we can make.

The rug display at rug school was 'fantastic', so many talented artist.  Some photos below of rugs at the display.

The above are three rugs completed that we started last year at rug school, a course by Susan Perry.  From left to right, Jane Holden, Kim MacKenzie and mine. So neat to see them side by each.

Katherine Pettigrew did the below rug, pattern (Dahlia Garden) by Della's Rug Hooking.  So spectacular how she colour planned this rug, so unique and fabulous.

The students at rug school and anyone who visited the display at the 'open house' could vote on their favorite rug and our own Diane Benoit won, peoples choice!  Below is Diane with her beautiful rug, Life on the Lake. Congrats Diane!

In the mail this week; no new completed rugs to showcase this week.

Have a great week everyone and mark your calendars for the Springhill Hook-In, May 21, 2025, I will be vending.
