We never know for sure exactly when Fall will make her appearance. Yes I called Fall a 'her', I'm allowed, it is my blog. The nights slowly become a bit cooler, we sleep better for the coolness. It then seems BAM! Suddenly we are saying, this is too cold, I need a sweater, brrrr, I can't sit on my deck, it is too cold. What happened to Summer? I think I have mentioned before, I'm a firm believer of the season you are born in, is typically your favorite season. Mine is fall, so I love it. All things orange, just makes me happy. I love seeing all the leaves change colour and in Nova Scotia, depending where you go, it is funny how some trees are changing colour and in other areas, not so much. Last Tuesday, my grandson Denver and I went to Stewiacke, took in a bit of mini golf. I had never been here golfing and it was such a well maintained mini putt, we will be back for sure. You can see in the background of the above picture, some leaves have turned colours and others not so much. Another few weeks this same photo would look very different. Fall is also the time of year to get your apples, pumpkins and such. My granddaughter Alina sitting in some pumpkins and the beautiful apple orchards in the valley and my oldest granddaughter Sophie in the corn field.
I attended a two day course with Ruth Downing learning to hook a monochromatic Delft pattern. Typically it is done in blues, but I'm not a blue person so I did mine in grays and I love it. Below is a group photo of us. I so enjoyed this course.
A friend of mine said we should make an insert for the back of our jean jackets as many are doing that as we see them on Facebook all over the place. I said NO! We call ourselves the 'roadies' as we always seem to be on the road somewhere. That night, what did I think about all night? How I would design my insert for my jean jacket! So the next morning I drew it out and began hooking it. It will be fun to see everyone else's designs. I'll share here as they get done.
Sometimes, ok maybe more than sometimes. I gather photos throughout the week to share on my blog and at the end of the week, I forget sometimes who gave me the photo, where did I get that photo? Who was the artist? Did I miss posting about that photo? This happened in last weeks blog. My dear friend Margie Anderson, had hooked this lovely pattern below, used some of my hand dyed wool in it but when I posted last week, I grabbed someone else hand hooked rug. Still no idea whose it was, but it wasn't Margie's. She kindly just wrote, Della this isn't my rug. She forgave me and I removed the photo from last weeks blog. Beautiful work Margie!
Last Wednesday, I vended at The Lady of Hope in PEI with the NB retreat ladies. I forgot to take a photo, if you can believe that. Lynne Lines came with me to keep me company which I so appreciate. The ladies at the retreat treated us so well, fed us lunch and purchased from my shop. You were very generous in your purchases and I am so glad you asked me to come! Thanks again gals.
In the mail this week; Carol Cowan hooked this wonderful cat, adapted from a free pattern in Stained Glass magazine from many years ago She may make it into a cushion top.
Karen Garbee shared this beautiful rug she finished, it is a David Galchutt pattern. My hand dyed values are in the flowers and the background turquoise was perfect! Well done girl.
Have a wonderful week everyone, stay warm.
Do you have the pattern for the birth of Jesus
