Camaraderie

What has always drawn me to rug hooking, has been the camaraderie.  The act of rug hooking continues to be enjoyable but it is the people that keep me doing it. I began rug hooking in 2006. You may have heard me say that a fellow worker (Carol Ann) and a friend of hers (Marcia) were going to take a rug hooking course with Edie Cole Legere, a renowned McGown trained teacher, who happened to live in our town at that time. I over heard Carol Ann telling another employee that she was going to be taking a course with Edie and I said, I wanna go! The rest is history because I was hooked, after the first loop! A bit later, I had heard about a rug hooking group that met weekly in the evenings, so I dropped in one evening. Thanks to Lynne Lines, she was so welcoming, encouraging and it felt like a big hug. I kept going back as I was able to sit with other like minded people who shared their stories, and I have always said, weekly hooking meetings are cheap therapy.  To this day I enjoy hooking with a group.  If you don't belong to a local rug hooking group, you should!  you won't regret it.  The Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia indicates within the quarterly Loop, all of the groups that meet in Nova Scotia, where, when and a contact name and number.  Look it up!

Last week I vended in Wallace for a small group. It had been 5 years since the Remsheg Hookers hosted a hook-in. The number of members had declined since COVID but the group rallied and pulled off a wonderful day. The love and support this group and those who attended was simply amazing. A few pictures below of the day. Thank you to everyone for continuing to support my business, I am truly humbled.

My mom, Joan Ripley helped me out, pictured above. Thanks mom!

Was a beautiful day to sit outside in the shade of a tree.

In the mail this week; Linda Durand hooked this lovely rug, her pattern. Some of the wool is from Della’s Rug Hooking Studio.

Dianne Shrum shared a photo of these lovely pillows she made. The background is Della’s Rug Hooking hand dyed sparkle wool fabric that Dianne hooked through. They look fabulous Dianne thanks for sharing!

Have a great week everyone!
